A quarter got you one, two if the day was hot enough and you had the change. Depending on where you came up, they had different names: quarter waters, hugs, little hugs, freeze cups, and everybody swears their name is the right one.

No label anybody read, no flavor anybody could name for sure (except red), you picked by color and you were always right. The freezer by the register, the cold you cracked on the walk home before it had a chance to sweat, the plastic top you bit off, spit, and did not think twice about.
