Red Cup Season

Wherever people gathered, the red cup was there. The repast in the church basement, the baby shower in somebody's backyard, the cookout that ran til after the streetlights came on, the folding table of somebody just outside enjoying the day. It held the punch, the soda, the grown folks' drink you were not supposed to know about, or sweet tea sweating in your hand. 

The red cup is the gathering itself. Wherever there was one, there was probably a cup like this in somebody's hand.
